Striving to become a leading player in the region through creating a high quality outdoor advertising presence, JCDecaux Middle East Africa (JCDecauxMEA) entered the booming Middle East market in 2007 with the Street Furniture contract of Doha, the capital of Qatar.
To date, JCDecauxMEA is present in three countries:
United Arab Emirates:
JCDecaux Dicon, a joint venture between JCDecaux and Dicon, won the exclusive 10-year advertising contract for Dubai International Airport, one of the fastest growing airports in the region.
- Dubai International Airport: 40.9 million passengers in 2009; 9.2% increase from 2008; No. 6 worldwide in terms of international passengers
- Sharjah International Airport: 5.8 million passengers in 2009; 9.2% increase from 2008; No. 6 in the Middle East
Qatar:
q.media Decaux, a joint venture between JCDecaux and Qatar's media market leader q.media, enjoys the exclusivity for the entire outdoor advertising network in Doha. q.media Decaux also manages exclusively the advertising on a fleet of 1,450 buses and 800 taxis in this capital city. The company is also handling the advertising in Villaggio mall, the most up-market shopping centre in Doha.
- Doha city: 0.9 million inhabitants in 2009
- Football in Villaggio: 12.5 million in 2009; 9.6% increase from 2008
Algeria:
JCDecaux Algeria has won the contract for the advertising concession in Algiers Airport and for 17 other airports in Algeria. Airport advertising aside, JCDecauxMEA has the exclusivity of advertising on 1,400 Tahkout buses in Algiers.
- Algiers Airport: 4.5 million passengers in 2009; 8% increase from 2008
- Algiers city: 7 million inhabitants (including Algiers agglomeration)
